can you believe it?

this reminded me of a part of "dress your family in corduroy and denim" by david sedaris (which i am currently re-reading, and enjoying) when he is talking to a 9 year old girl about france and spain and she says, "is that a store?"

while i was still attending calvin i was talking to a girl i knew about the upcoming election and she said she wasn't sure if she was a "democrat or a dominican republican." no lie. i couldn't make that up.

lastly, here's an actual conversation i had with someone i used to work for:

employer: "so, what are you doing in your art classes this semester"
me: "well, in my drawing class i'm working on a self portrait."
emp: "who are you going to do it of?"
me: "...uh, myself."
emp: "that's an interesting take on it."

bottom line: people are idiots.

started classes today--should be a fantastic semester. it feels great having my priorities in order. and my bitches in line.

and by the way, mrs. r is fine. she was a little drugged up after her surgery, but she's back to biting my toes and eating my books, so i think she's gonna be a-ok.

American girl: What?

British guy: Our prime minister. Tony Blair.

American girl: Wait----what? What do you mean prime minister?

British guy: What do you mean what do I mean?

American girl: I mean, don't you guys have a king and queen?
